Kookaburra aims to create a financially sustainable arts company with an acknowledged reputation for artistic excellence; a company that attracts a broad audience and makes an essential contribution to our nation’s artistic and entertainment heritage.

In 2006, Kookaburra launched with a Fundraising Concert supported by Australia’s leading performers, including Julie Anthony, John Waters, Debra Byrne, Marina Prior, Judi Connelli and Caroline O’Connor
 
In 2007, Kookaburra... 
 
•    Presented two major musicals: combined audience reach 40,000 and box office income over 
     $1.8 million
•    Pippin Production - nominated for 3 Helpmann Awards
•    Company Production - won three awards including a Sydney Critics Circle award
•    Presented An Audience with Stephen Sondheim, broadcast by the ABC and Foxtel
•    Presented nine Up Close & Musical cabaret performances
•    Acquired 1,300 Subscribers and 3,000 registered Kookaburra Friends
•    Employed over 80 Performers, Directors, Designers, Technicians and Musicians
•    Initiated Kookaburra Kids and conducted the first workshop with Company
•    Mentored over 15 new composers’ work through The Nest
•    Initiated Kookaburra Corporate, a musical experience for corporate team building
 
In 2008, we will build on this success and take Kookaburra beyond Sydney, NSW. In addition to hosting three musical productions in Sydney, we will tour Tell Me on a Sunday and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change to regional NSW.
 

In 2009, Kookaburra will launch the 2009 – 2010 Season and plans for Tell Me on a Sunday to open in Melbourne, before continuing to tour around Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
